Accidentally saw this talk on the YouTube and decided to leave a comment here.

I'm disagree with some points mentioned by the speaker. Maybe because I'm looking on this problem from the opposite side.

My mother is Korean and father is Russian. I was born in Russia and have been living here all my life, so I don't even know Korean language. My situation is different because in those times (my childhood 1990-2000, I'm 20 years old now) there were not so many asians in my city (St. Petersburg), so I was always surrounded mostly by blond children. My nickname at kindergarten and lately at school was "Chinese" (actually usual Russians can't distinguish between the Chineses, Koreans, Japaneses etc) or "Korean". It disturbed me, but I got used to it simply because I thought that it's normal. Again, there were no other asians around.

But it's not only about how I look like. The way I am thinking is more important. I feel the huge cultural gap between my Korean and Russian family. They live in harmony because both of them are enough tolerant. But tolerance is not comfort.

One Japanese man told me this nice comparison: "Human races are like birds species. They live in the same forest, but they should never have mixed babies".

Your words about "human race is the only race we have" sound nice, but you present this problem only from one side. Let's forget about appearance. Cultures are different. Relationships between men and women, children and parents, government and society are different. According to your speech the main problem is the prejudgement to another nationality. But it's not only prejudgement, people are really different only because of their ancestry! I have a bunch of examples from my own experience, but they are too long to mention them in this comment.

Usually in such discussions about nationalities people claim that my position is "racism". But in fact the only thing that I want to say is that you can't declare so easily the statement that everyone is equal. By saying it you won't change anything, I suppose. Maybe if you aknowledge this difference, you will be able to find the way to help someone to find his place under the sun.

It seems to me that my words sound pessimistically. And you may conclude that I'm disappointed in my origin. Actually I'm not. I like my position in the society. I think my background made me open minded and sceptic at the same time. "Non, je ne regrette rien" :)
